How to Prayer Walk

A Simple, Effective Strategy for Evangelism

What Is Prayer Walking?

Prayer walking is praying while walking at a strategic location.

Why Do We Prayer Walk?

We can pray anywhere, but when we intentionally go somewhere, God shows us the needs of the people we’re praying for. God gives us new things to pray for as we walk and experience the place and people with new eyes. God opens up opportunities to meet and minister to people.

Hebrews 11:30 says, “By faith the walls of Jericho fell”. When we prayer walk, we are declaring God’s promises and God’s Kingdom over the land. We are tearing the walls down and claiming territory for God.

How Should We Pray?

Pray with eyes open. When praying with others, make it look like a conversation. Act natural.

Pray scripture and God’s promises over people and places.

Pray for students, professors, faculty, security and maintenance people – anybody.

Pray for insight into different areas.

Pray for divine appointments.

Pray over buildings, bulletin boards, motorbikes, and crowded gathering places (i.e food court, library).

Pray for healing if you encounter sick or injured people.

Pray specifically and boldly.

Tips

When you meet people, always get their phone number.

48-Hour Follow-Up: If you connect with somebody, make an effort to see them again within 48 hours. If you cannot meet them again, plan a time to hang out again within a week.

Don’t be shy to initiate conversations with new people.

Try to share your testimony, but don’t force it. Look for natural opportunities to share.

Don’t hand out fliers to everyone. Only give fliers after you’ve established a friendship.

Don’t wear sunglasses. It’s harder to connect with people if they can’t see your eyes.

Always be a blessing. Don’t cause problems.
